26.11. InnoWebinar: Research to Business funding – How to?

Business Finland’s Research to Business (R2B) funding provides research teams with an opportunity to validate the commercial potential of research-based solutions and prepare a pathway towards new business.

A strong R2B proposal, however, differs in several important ways from a traditional research funding application. In addition to scientific and technical content, the proposal must demonstrate a clear understanding of market needs, customer validation, commercialization pathways, competition, intellectual property and the actions required after the project.

In this webinar,

  • Janne Haverinen and Markku Känsäkoski will introduce the key objectives of R2B funding, the main evaluation perspectives and the essential elements of a strong application.

  • The session will provide practical guidance on what to emphasize in the proposal, how to combine research and commercialization activities into a coherent project and which common pitfalls should be avoided when preparing an application.

  • A researcher who has successfully secured R2B funding will also share first-hand experiences from the application process and discuss how an R2B proposal differs from other research and project funding applications.

  • Through practical examples, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the mindset and approach typically required when moving from a research-driven project towards commercialization.

The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session, giving participants an opportunity to ask questions about R2B funding, proposal preparation and practical commercialization issues.
