The latest Business Finland Research to Business call closed on March 4, 2026. Researchers from the University of Oulu submitted a total of six applications. Experts at the Innovation Centre encourage those interested in the next call, opening in May, to get in touch as early as possible — preferably even before the call opens.
"I recommend contacting us already at this stage. Together, we can, for example, clarify the business potential of your project and ensure that it meets Business Finland’s requirements as well as possible", says Markku Känsäkoski, Business Development Specialist at the Innovation Centre.
About the call
Research to Business funding is intended for public research organisations for projects in which research groups and researchers aim to build new business from their research and commercialise product or service ideas derived from it.
Business Finland may fund up to 80% of the project’s eligible total costs, with the remaining 20% covered by the research organisation.
Typically, Research to Business projects range from €300,000 to €700,000 in size.
The duration of R2B projects is 1–2 years.
The Innovation Centre supports researchers in commercialising research results and in matters related to intellectual property rights, identifying business potential, developing business ideas, applying for Business Finland research funding, and building collaboration networks with industry partners.
